When it comes to coaching Matthew Hernon is certainly a team player who contributes expertly when it comes to session planning, is full of new ideas (many of which have been implemented as core components of the Academy’s annual program), is always open to new ideas and communicates as effectively with his coaching cohorts as he does with the young players he coaches. A lifelong footballer, fervent Swindon Town supporter and Robbie Keane fan, Matt’s experiences of football, as a player and as a coach (most notably at Shizuoka FC), have equipped him with some outstanding coaching skills that he knows instinctively how to utilize and does so to extraordinary effect. Whether he’s coaching a 3-year old who has never seen a football before, or a 15-year old with pro-clubs knocking on the door, Matt has the experience, versatility and out-and-out knowledge as a coach to confidently edify, motivate and inspire them to be the very best they can.
