Jon Day, Vice President & Communications Director of the Academy’s parent company Footy Japan KK, has been coaching at the British Football Academy since its inception. He has and continues to play a major role in the Academy’s design, structure, philosophy, marketing, coaching programs and all-round vision. Jon has a unique knack of connecting, inspiring and communicating with kids, on a level that they understand and are receptive to. He is also actively involved in the development of the Academy’s junior coaches. Since the age of three Jon has played football and it was only due to an unfortunate ACL injury as a teenager, that he was forced to choose university over a career in professional football. That said he contentedly graduated from Leeds University with a joint-honors degree in Sociology & Public Media, which serves him well in his current role at Footy Japan KK (and he enjoyed playing semi-professional football along the way). Jon currently plays for and is the captain of the British Football Club Tokyo, a team presently comprised mainly of ex-pro & semi-pro players (including a Paraguayan International). In his first season as captain (2006-2007) he guided his team to their first league championship (Tokyo Metropolis League Division 1) in decades.
